Job Description

Overview

  • Provide clinical support by discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, and administering medications or vaccines.
  • Perform diagnostic screening tests, phlebotomy, and specimen collection with precision and care.
  • Maintain examination rooms and sterilize medical equipment to ensure a safe environment.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and advanced practice providers to deliver patient care.
  • Document patient information accurately into electronic medical records systems.
  • Work within defined parameters to meet quality standards and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Adhere to standard policies and procedures while exercising discretion in decision-making.
  • Participate in the organization's Tuberculosis screening program as part of patient-facing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Discuss patient symptoms and obtain vital signs during clinical visits.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as per certification and guidelines.
  • Perform phlebotomy and diagnostic tests with attention to accuracy and patient comfort.
  • Ensure examination rooms are clean, organized, and equipped for patient care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Accurately document patient information in electronic medical records systems.
  • Travel locally as required, with mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Follow standard policies and procedures while exercising independent discretion when necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Associate of Arts degree or equivalent educational background.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program or certification.
  • CPR certification is mandatory for this role.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant, with 2 years preferred.
  • Experience in medication/vaccine administration and phlebotomy is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience is preferred.
  • Availability for on-site work and local travel as required.
