Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Determine eligibility and screen required documents using provided tools for pharmacy prior authorization requests.
- Organize and distribute authorization requests for pharmacist/physician review and respond to additional information requests.
- Collect medical information via various channels and apply appropriate criteria, documenting all communications.
- Ensure timely decision-making and escalate cases requiring pharmacist review as necessary.
- Communicate authorization outcomes orally and in writing, adhering to standards for accuracy and timeliness.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing pharmacy operations and authorization processes.
- Participate in training sessions and maintain adherence to training schedules and protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance operational efficiency and meet organizational goals.
Job Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from PTCB or NHA.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a pharmacy-related field; 3 years preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required for eligibility.
- Prior authorization experience and familiarity with remote work environments preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent customer service and phone etiquette.
- Comfortable in a phone-heavy role; call center experience is a significant advantage.
- Ability to adhere to training schedules and protocols, including group training sessions.
