Job Description

Overview

  • Provide investigative services for civil practice cases across boroughs, collaborating with attorneys and paralegals.
  • Conduct interviews with complainants, witnesses, and other relevant parties to gather case information.
  • Perform background checks, internet research, and social media investigations for case preparation.
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing investigation findings and maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Serve subpoenas, motions, and other legal documents as required.
  • Travel extensively within and outside boroughs to locate clients and conduct fieldwork.
  • Work irregular hours as directed to fulfill investigative responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and associates to gather information.
  • Utilize databases and software tools to retrieve and analyze case-related data.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals to fulfill investigative requests from civil staff.
  • Locate and interview relevant parties to gather case-specific information.
  • Prepare written summaries and detailed reports of investigation findings.
  • Conduct background checks and online research using various tools and platforms.
  • Serve legal documents such as subpoenas and motions as needed.
  • Travel extensively within NYC boroughs and beyond to perform fieldwork.
  • Communicate with clients and their associates to gather critical information.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including chain of custody and witness statements.
  • Perform fieldwork during office hours and irregular hours as directed.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience conducting investigations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and social media platforms for research purposes.
  • Licensed Process Server and Notary License highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, and questioning skills for effective communication.
  • Ability to travel extensively within NYC using mass transit.
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in customer service and fieldwork is highly desirable.
  • Integrity, discretion, and analytical skills to evaluate case facts effectively.
