Nurse Director Perioperative Services

Overview

• Lead and oversee perioperative nursing services, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
• Maintain accountability for Surgical Services and Central Sterile Department operations, ensuring high-quality patient care.
• Develop and implement operational efficiencies to enhance departmental performance and patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with management and community organizations to promote healthcare initiatives and departmental visibility.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards and other accrediting bodies for assigned departments.
• Plan and supervise the implementation of new services and departmental improvements.
• Conduct evaluations, training sessions, and departmental meetings to foster a positive employee climate.
• Monitor financial budgets, including revenues, expenses, and capital expenditures, ensuring fiscal responsibility.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Supervise nursing care delivery in Surgical Services and Central Sterile Department.
• Conduct evaluations, education sessions, and monthly departmental meetings.
• Ensure participation in PI teams and CQI processes within assigned departments.
• Implement quality control measures to achieve positive patient outcomes daily.
• Manage hiring, terminations, and corrective actions in accordance with personnel policies.
• Review and revise departmental policies and procedures annually.
• Schedule staff based on activity volumes to meet customer needs effectively.
• Support administrative management decisions and ensure operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience, with 5 years preferred, in perioperative nursing leadership.
• Director-level experience in healthcare operations and team management.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• Strong knowledge of Joint Commission standards and quality improvement processes.
• Proficiency in budget management and operational planning.
