Job Description

Overview

  • Lead perioperative nursing services, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
  • Provide 24-hour accountability for surgical services and central sterile departments.
  • Coordinate nursing care delivery to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure positive daily outcomes.
  • Develop and execute operational efficiencies for assigned departments.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other accrediting body standards.
  • Participate in management team meetings and community functions.
  • Plan and implement new services and departmental improvements.
  • Support administrative decisions and take corrective actions as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct evaluations and training sessions for staff in assigned departments.
  • Organize monthly departmental meetings to communicate relevant information.
  • Ensure participation in performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
  • Maintain a positive employee climate and address personnel issues effectively.
  • Monitor and meet financial budgets for revenues, expenses, and capital expenditures.
  • Hire, supervise, and terminate staff as required, ensuring optimal team performance.
  • Review and update departmental policies and procedures annually.
  • Schedule staff based on activity volumes to meet customer needs.
  • Promote technical equipment and processes for positive patient outcomes.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Active RN license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in perioperative nursing; 5 years preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience in a director-level role.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital policies and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Ability to implement quality control measures and operational efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
