Job Description
Overview
- Lead perioperative nursing services, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Provide 24-hour accountability for surgical services and central sterile departments.
- Coordinate nursing care delivery to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure positive daily outcomes.
- Develop and execute operational efficiencies for assigned departments.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other accrediting body standards.
- Participate in management team meetings and community functions.
- Plan and implement new services and departmental improvements.
- Support administrative decisions and take corrective actions as needed.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct evaluations and training sessions for staff in assigned departments.
- Organize monthly departmental meetings to communicate relevant information.
- Ensure participation in performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
- Maintain a positive employee climate and address personnel issues effectively.
- Monitor and meet financial budgets for revenues, expenses, and capital expenditures.
- Hire, supervise, and terminate staff as required, ensuring optimal team performance.
- Review and update departmental policies and procedures annually.
- Schedule staff based on activity volumes to meet customer needs.
- Promote technical equipment and processes for positive patient outcomes.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Active RN license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in perioperative nursing; 5 years preferred.
- Proven leadership experience in a director-level role.
- Strong knowledge of hospital policies and regulatory compliance standards.
- Ability to implement quality control measures and operational efficiencies.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
