Job Description

Overview

  • Provide clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Assist in patient care activities, including vital signs, specimen collection, and documentation.
  • Ensure smooth patient flow by managing registration, check-in, and check-out processes.
  • Coordinate referrals and appointments with external specialists and healthcare providers.
  • Support population health initiatives and campaigns to improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain professionalism and adhere to confidentiality standards in all interactions.
  • Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) systems for accurate data management.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform patient care tasks, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic tests.
  • Assist providers during examinations and document patient information in EMR.
  • Manage patient registration and verify insurance coverage accurately.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments with external specialists.
  • Ensure proper labeling and preparation of specimens for laboratory processing.
  • Address patient inquiries and resolve service-related issues promptly.
  • Support healthcare campaigns and initiatives to close care gaps.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures to ensure quality care delivery.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for certification exam.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an ambulatory care setting required.
  • Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient care protocols.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team environment.
