Job Description

Overview

  • Lead accounting and financial reporting for private real estate investments, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Collaborate with joint venture partners and property managers to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and review SEC filings, including 8-Ks, 10-Qs, and 10-Ks, gaining significant financial reporting experience.
  • Develop and maintain SOX-compliant internal controls and business processes to ensure operational integrity.
  • Assist in valuation processes, coordinating with investment teams and independent valuation advisors.
  • Provide oversight for third-party administrators and ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures.
  • Support treasury functions, including cash position analysis and processing vendor payments.
  • Contribute to audit processes and compliance reporting, ensuring adherence to credit facility covenants.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ensure investments are accounted for in accordance with US GAAP, addressing complex accounting areas.
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements for private equity funds and non-traded REITs.
  • Develop relationships with joint venture partners and property managers to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial statement variances and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
  • Coordinate valuation processes, ensuring accurate property valuations and documentation.
  • Assist in writing standard operating procedures and implementing operational enhancements.
  • Manage investor reporting, including capital calls, distributions, and compliance documentation.
  • Support fund audit processes, providing detailed responses to audit requests.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA certification required.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in auditing or working with REITs or historical cost real estate funds.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience with SOX-compliant internal controls and operational processes.
  • Proficiency in valuation processes and financial statement analysis.
  • Ability to manage relationships with joint venture partners and property managers.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
