Job Description

Overview

  • Lead financial operations for multiple real estate properties and assets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff, fostering growth and efficiency within the department.
  • Collaborate with property management, leasing, and construction teams to support organizational objectives.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, providing insights into asset performance and trends.
  • Ensure seamless integration of third-party accounting records into proprietary systems.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes to optimize financial planning.
  • Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Coordinate month-end close processes, reviewing reconciliations and financial statements for accuracy.
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, providing explanations for significant fluctuations.
  • Oversee property acquisitions, additions, and dispositions, ensuring proper accounting treatment.
  • Manage insurance schedules, commission schedules, and tenant billing processes.
  • Support property management in budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Supervise and train accounting staff, promoting professional development and cross-training initiatives.
  • Research and apply accounting standards to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Present updates on process improvements to the team and organization.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with 15 years preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual, and cash accounting methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis.
  • Experience with real estate accounting systems like Yardi or IBS is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
