Overview

  • Provide patient-centered dermatology care in a rural healthcare setting, focusing on medical dermatology services and continuity of treatment.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians to deliver high-quality care to underserved communities, ensuring access to specialized dermatology services.
  • Perform comprehensive dermatologic evaluations, including full-body skin exams, patient histories, and diagnostic testing.
  • Diagnose and manage a variety of dermatologic conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and skin cancers.
  • Conduct dermatologic procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, lesion removal, and wound care management.
  • Educate patients on skin health, disease prevention, and treatment plans, fostering long-term patient relationships.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and dermatology-focused education to enhance clinical skills.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical, regulatory, and HIPAA standards while maintaining accurate EMR documentation.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform dermatologic evaluations, including skin exams and patient histories, to diagnose and manage various dermatologic conditions.
  • Evaluate and treat precancerous and cancerous skin lesions within the scope of practice, ensuring effective patient care.
  • Conduct dermatologic procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, and lesion removal, ensuring proper post-procedure management.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians, prescribing medications and therapies as needed.
  • Educate patients on skin health, disease prevention, and treatment plans, promoting awareness and proactive care.
  • Order and interpret dermatopathology and diagnostic tests to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in professional development activities, including dermatology-specific training and continuing education programs.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program is required.
  • Active North Carolina NP or PA license with national certification (AANP/ANCC for NPs or NCCPA for PAs).
  • Minimum of 1 year of dermatology experience, with preference for 3 years and dermatology certification.
  • Proficiency in performing dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, cryotherapy, and lesion removal.
  • Familiarity with dermatoscopy and electronic medical record systems for efficient documentation.
  • Strong clinical assessment and communication skills to educate patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.
  • Commitment to rural healthcare and building long-term patient relationships in underserved communities.
