Trademark Paralegal Overview
- The Trademark Paralegal will manage global trademark portfolios in a hybrid work environment.
- Conduct pre-screening trademark searches and assist in preparing U.S. trademark applications and related documents.
- Collaborate with foreign associates on international trademark prosecution and maintenance tasks.
- Support corporate teams in due diligence matters and trademark portfolio management.
- Work closely with partners and teams across offices to ensure seamless operations.
- Handle confidential information with discretion and adhere to professional ethical standards.
- Leverage advanced tools like Corsearch and SAEGIS for trademark screening.
- Utilize Foundation IP or similar systems for trademark docketing and portfolio management.
- Provide guidance and support for domestic and international trademark matters.
Trademark Paralegal Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct comprehensive trademark searches and analyze results for pre-screening purposes.
- Prepare and file U.S. trademark applications, statements of use, extensions, and renewal documents.
- Manage international trademark portfolios, ensuring compliance with global regulations.
- Correspond with foreign associates regarding trademark prosecution and maintenance.
- Collaborate with corporate teams on due diligence and trademark-related projects.
- Utilize trademark docketing systems to track deadlines and maintain portfolio accuracy.
- Conduct research and synthesize data for complex trademark cases.
- Provide exceptional client service and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality in all tasks.
Trademark Paralegal Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; ABA-approved paralegal certificate preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in trademark prosecution; 7 years preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of USPTO and WIPO trademark rules and procedures.
- Experience with trademark screening tools like Corsearch or SAEGIS.
- Familiarity with trademark docketing systems such as Foundation IP.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work overtime and travel as needed to meet business demands.
