HR Compliance Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead and oversee the background check program, managing vendor relationships and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Ensure I-9 compliance and implement process improvements for accurate documentation and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with HR, Legal, and Talent Acquisition to maintain compliance throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Oversee employment law compliance, including leaves, salary transparency, and recordkeeping.
- Develop and maintain domestic and international employment policies in partnership with Legal.
- Support audits of restrictive covenant agreements and offboarding protocols for consistency and compliance.
- Work with Payroll and HR Operations to ensure compliance with pay, tax, and reporting obligations.
- Conduct internal audits and maintain records to reduce risk and support reporting requirements.
- Advise HR and business leaders on compliance practices and foster accountability.
HR Compliance Manager Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR compliance or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and background check regulations.
- Experience working with third-party background screening vendors.
- Preferred HR certifications: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
- Experience in multi-state or global organizations is a plus.
- Familiarity with Oracle HR systems and compliance tracking tools preferred.
- Excellent judgment and ability to explain complex rules in plain language.
