Tax Director Overview

  • Serve as Tax Director, leading compliance and consulting services for high-net-worth individuals and private businesses.
  • Oversee tax return processes, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations and delivering accurate results.
  • Mentor and develop staff accountants, fostering professional growth and team excellence.
  • Identify and resolve complex tax issues, providing innovative solutions to clients.
  • Collaborate with clients to uncover opportunities for expanded services and business growth.
  • Manage multiple tax engagements, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to financial goals.
  • Contribute to a collaborative environment while maintaining independent work capabilities.
  • Support the Private Client Services team in achieving strategic objectives and client satisfaction.

Tax Director Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review tax projections, workpapers, and returns for individuals and fiduciaries, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee tax return processes, resolving issues and maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor and train staff accountants, prioritizing workloads and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Manage engagements, including budgeting, billing, and monitoring engagement economics.
  • Provide tax compliance and consulting services for S-corporations and partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities for new client services and business portfolio expansion.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Stay updated on technical tax developments to deliver expert advice and solutions.

Tax Director Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent field required; CPA or JD mandatory.
  • 10+ years of progressive tax compliance and consulting experience in public/private sectors.
  • Expertise in individual and fiduciary tax returns, S-corporations, and partnerships.
  • Strong experience managing complex technical tax engagements and delivering results.
  • Preferred Master’s degree in Tax or equivalent field for advanced expertise.
  • Proven ability to acquire new clients and expand business portfolios effectively.
  • Proficient in budgeting, billing, and managing engagement economics successfully.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
