Medical Assistant Float Overview

  • The Medical Assistant Float role supports patient care and clinical operations in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure efficient workflows and exceptional patient experiences.
  • Engage with patients to promote lifelong well-being and health through proactive care.
  • Perform administrative and clinical tasks to support primary care facilities.
  • Utilize electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medical records (EMR) systems effectively.

Medical Assistant Float Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform pre-visit planning and manage provider schedules for efficient workflows.
  • Obtain and record medical history and vital signs accurately.
  • Assist healthcare providers with medical procedures and treatments.
  • Collect specimens and conduct point-of-care testing.
  • Administer medications under the direction of healthcare providers.
  • Document patient information and quality measures in EHR and EMR systems.
  • Maintain quality control standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support patient engagement and deliver outstanding customer service.

Medical Assistant Float Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of Medical Assistant training preferred.
  • Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • CPR certification and compliance with Tuberculosis (TB) screening program.
  • Experience in phlebotomy and medication/vaccine administration preferred.
  • Knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and value-based care models.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
  • Strong documentation skills and familiarity with EHR/EMR systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
