Electrical Engineer Overview

  • The Electrical Engineer will contribute to the design and development of electrical systems for commercial, educational, and institutional building projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success and adherence to industry standards.
  • Engage in schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration phases.
  • Apply knowledge of NFPA, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, and electrical equipment standards.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and power analysis design software to produce high-quality designs.
  • Contribute to the firm’s legacy of over 58 years of excellence in engineering and architecture.

Electrical Engineer Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Design and coordinate electrical systems for diverse building projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform engineering tasks related to project development, design, and construction phases.
  • Collaborate with architects, owners, and contractors throughout project lifecycles.
  • Conduct office construction administration, including shop drawing reviews and RFIs.
  • Assist with job site observations to ensure project quality and compliance.
  • Prepare engineering reports, applications, permits, and specifications.
  • Support marketing efforts through proposals and technical presentations.
  • Attend client and project meetings to discuss scope, budget, and schedules.
  • Perform electrical design calculations, including loads, equipment sizing, and voltage drop.

Electrical Engineer Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred; FE/EIT certification acceptable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; 7 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and power analysis design software is essential.
  • Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, and electrical equipment standards required.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple assignments effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, for client interactions.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • Experience in construction administration and job site observations is advantageous.
