• The Chief Software Engineer will lead technical innovation and establish software architecture for advanced robotics and autonomous systems.
• Provide hands-on leadership across software architecture, systems engineering, robotics, perception, controls, and embedded computing domains.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive alignment on architecture, interfaces, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Contribute to coding, debugging, integration, and validation of complex software systems using C++ and Python.
• Define technical roadmaps and translate product objectives into scalable software architectures.
• Establish engineering standards, architectural principles, and technical review processes across the organization.
• Mentor senior engineers and foster technical leadership capabilities within the team.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on software architecture, system design, and engineering strategy.

Chief Software Engineer Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Define and own the overall software architecture for robotics and embedded systems.
• Lead software initiatives from concept through implementation, integration, and production deployment.
• Establish engineering standards, development practices, and review processes across teams.
• Architect software systems integrating perception, controls, autonomy, and embedded computing.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, making critical architectural tradeoffs.
• Drive improvements in software performance, reliability, testing, and development velocity.
• Lead architecture reviews, design reviews, and complex debugging efforts.
• Mentor senior engineers and develop technical leadership capabilities within the organization.

Chief Software Engineer Job Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, with leadership roles in architecture and design.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python for complex software systems development.
• Expertise in software architecture, system design, performance optimization, and debugging.
• Experience integrating software with hardware across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering domains.
• Strong understanding of engineering practices including CI/CD, code reviews, and testing.
• Ability to influence technical decisions and align teams around architectural strategies.
• Exceptional problem-solving, technical judgment, and communication skills.
