Medical Assistant Overview
- The Medical Assistant is the first point of contact for patient care, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience.
- Responsible for administrative tasks alongside clinical duties, supporting operational and customer service needs.
- Perform moderately complex assignments, computations, and reporting under the guidance of the Center Administrator.
- Document patient symptoms, vital signs, and medical history accurately in the electronic medical record system.
- Administer injections, perform diagnostic tests, and collect specimens ensuring high-quality patient care.
- Maintain examination rooms and sterilize equipment to uphold clinical standards.
- Participate in the Tuberculosis screening program and other patient-facing initiatives.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver value-based care and enhance patient experience.
Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Document patient symptoms and medical history in the EMR system with precision.
- Take and record vital signs, ensuring accurate and timely data collection.
- Administer medications and vaccines following established protocols and guidelines.
- Perform diagnostic tests and collect specimens, including blood draws, for laboratory analysis.
- Sterilize medical equipment and maintain examination rooms to ensure readiness for patient care.
- Support operational tasks and customer service assignments under the Center Administrator's supervision.
- Participate in the Tuberculosis screening program and ensure compliance with patient-facing protocols.

Medical Assistant Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of Medical Assistant training program preferred.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credentials preferred, mandatory in certain states.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or healthcare setting.
- Phlebotomy and medication/vaccine administration experience required.
- CPR certification mandatory; familiarity with Tuberculosis screening protocols preferred.
- Knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in clinical and administrative tasks.
