Tax Manager Overview
- The Tax Manager will lead strategic tax planning and compliance efforts for high-net-worth clients, ensuring exceptional service and accuracy.
- Manage an offshore team to oversee tax preparation, filing, and advisory services with a focus on efficiency and compliance.
- Engage directly with clients to provide tailored tax strategies and address complex inquiries.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure comprehensive federal and state tax compliance.
- Analyze tax returns for planning opportunities, identifying efficiencies, and mitigating risks.
- Conduct detailed research on intricate tax issues and provide clear documentation and recommendations.
- Mentor and train junior staff, fostering professional growth within the tax department.
- Support the transition of tax operations from third-party management to an in-house structure.
Tax Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Deliver high-quality tax planning, compliance, and advisory services to high-net-worth clients and families.
- Oversee and review the work of offshore tax teams, ensuring accuracy and timely filing of various tax forms.
- Lead client meetings to discuss tax strategies and provide actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with advisors and internal teams to ensure seamless tax compliance and integration.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and address potential risks through detailed analysis.
- Research complex tax issues and document responses for clients and advisors.
- Mentor junior staff, providing guidance and fostering professional development.
- Manage special projects and contribute to the strategic growth of the tax department.
Tax Manager Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field is required.
- Active CPA certification is mandatory for this role.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in tax management, preferably in public accounting or RIA.
- Experience managing offshore tax teams is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and familiarity with Holistiplan is advantageous.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tax issues affecting individuals, trusts, partnerships, and S-corporations.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and excellent time management abilities.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior staff while managing complex projects effectively.
