Coding Retrieval Coordinator Overview
- The Coding Retrieval Coordinator is responsible for supporting medical record acquisition for regulatory and compliance initiatives.
- This hybrid role involves office-based tasks, remote work, and field visits to provider locations.
- Engage with healthcare providers and HIM departments to ensure timely medical record retrieval.
- Manage high-volume workflows with precision and adherence to tight deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with CMS RADV medical record documentation requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to meet regulatory deadlines.
- Travel to provider sites within the NYC metro area and surrounding regions as needed.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and secure transmission of PHI during all activities.
Coding Retrieval Coordinator Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Expand and improve medical records acquisition for RADV risk adjustment programs.
- Perform medical record reviews to ensure consistency with clinical documentation specifications.
- Coordinate medical record retrieval efforts for audits and regulatory activities.
- Track retrieval progress and maintain dashboards to monitor compliance.
- Provide detailed updates on audit projects and initiatives to stakeholders.
- Organize and prepare presentations for project status reports.
- Travel to provider sites and hospitals to facilitate medical record acquisition.
- Ensure secure transmission of PHI and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
Coding Retrieval Coordinator Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required.
- 2-3 years of experience in medical record retrieval or healthcare administration.
- Proficiency in multiple EMR systems such as Epic, eCW, Athena, and Cerner.
- Strong knowledge of CMS RADV requirements and medical record documentation practices.
- Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel within NYC metro area and surrounding regions as necessary.
- Experience with chart requests and retrievals using Risk Adjustment modeling preferred.
- Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution is preferred.
