Assistant Controller Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
- Monitor job cost reports, ensuring project financial data is current and accurate.
- Coordinate with project managers to track costs, billings, and change orders effectively.
- Support cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting to align with organizational goals.

- Train and supervise accounting staff, providing guidance and fostering professional development.

Assistant Controller Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
- 6–11 years of progressive accounting experience; construction industry experience is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in construction-specific accounting software such as Pro-Contractor or CMIC.
- Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition methods.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills to support financial analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement effective solutions.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring accounting staff to enhance team performance.
