Nurse Specialist Quality Improvement Overview

  • The Nurse Specialist Quality Improvement role focuses on enhancing patient care and safety through quality improvement initiatives and clinical education.

Nurse Specialist Quality Improvement Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Coordinate quality events within assigned units and provide follow-up with clinicians, leadership, and physicians.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve issues and improve patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Develop and present quality metrics, educating staff and leadership on improvement opportunities.
  • Investigate radiology discrepancies and follow-up recommendations, maintaining logs as appropriate.
  • Facilitate incident report follow-ups and customer service complaint resolutions in collaboration with leadership.
  • Provide clinical education and resources to patients for post-hospital care as needed.
  • Assist providers with administrative tasks, including medication authorizations and form completion.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences to address hospitalist statistics and discharge barriers.
  • Educate providers on community healthcare services and medication availability updates.

Nurse Specialist Quality Improvement Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing required.
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) license and relevant certifications including BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • Minimum of one year of specialty experience and three years of RN experience required.
  • Preferred experience with databases and report writing for quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and morale.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in interpreting laboratory and test results and communicating findings effectively.
  • Commitment to compliance policies and resolving compliance questions or concerns.
