Job Description

Tax Associate Overview

  • The Tax Associate will support the tax function for private credit funds, public RICs, CLOs, and management companies.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams, including Investor Relations, Operations, Fund Accounting, and Legal, to ensure tax compliance and planning.
  • Provide expertise in tax issues related to asset management, including private equity and hedge fund entities.

  • Leverage advanced tools such as AI, Alteryx, and Microsoft Power BI for tax data automation and streamlining.

Tax Associate Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review tax work papers, allocations, and various tax forms, including K-1s, 1065s, and 1120-RIC.
  • Analyze financial data for fund tax estimates and international tax reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate tax information flow from underlying investments and manage FATCA and CRS reporting.
  • Automate and streamline tax processes using AI and Alteryx tools.
  • Prepare and review quarterly corporate estimated tax payments and state tax filings.
  • Respond to tax notices and manage new entity formation processes, including SS-4 applications.
  • Research complex tax issues, formulate opinions, and update tax memoranda for ASC 740 documentation.
  • Collaborate with management accounting to calculate partner payment estimates and address withholding issues.

Tax Associate Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree with a strong academic record; Master's in Tax preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in private or Big 4 tax environments; 8 years preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and familiarity with automation tools.
  • Knowledge of international tax reporting, including PFICs and CFCs, and tax compliance processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools like Copilot and ChatGPT for tax data management.
  • Ability to stay updated on evolving tax laws, proposals, and strategies.
