Occupational Therapist Overview

  • The Occupational Therapist role offers an opportunity to provide impactful care to residents in a supportive environment.
  • Deliver occupational therapy treatments following established care plans and therapeutic exercises to enhance resident functionality.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal resident outcomes and safe discharge plans.
  • Engage in ongoing education and training to maintain and enhance professional skills.
  • Utilize assistive devices effectively, ensuring safety and proper functionality for residents.
  • Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating kindness and patience to residents and families.
  • Adhere to infection control practices and safety policies to maintain a secure environment.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of resident care strategies.
  • Support therapy aides and collaborate with nursing staff for comprehensive resident care.

Occupational Therapist Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Administer occupational therapy treatments as per the plan of care, focusing on therapeutic exercises and ADLs.
  • Document treatment sessions and progress notes accurately and promptly.
  • Supervise and direct Therapy Aides during resident care activities.
  • Collaborate with the Rehab team, nursing staff, and physicians to align resident goals and discharge plans.
  • Fit, adjust, and train residents on assistive devices, ensuring safety and functionality.
  • Transport residents safely to and from the Rehab department and other campus locations.
  • Participate in in-services and ongoing education to enhance professional capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control practices and resident rights policies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to residents, families, and team members.

Occupational Therapist Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; advanced certifications in occupational therapy preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in occupational therapy; familiarity with Rehab Optimum is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercises, functional training, and ADLs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and provide resident-centered care.
  • Proficiency in documenting treatment sessions and progress notes accurately.
  • Experience with assistive devices and adaptive equipment training preferred.
  • Commitment to infection control practices and safety policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide outstanding customer service.
