Primary Care Physician Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of health conditions.
• Lead and collaborate with care teams to deliver coordinated and effective healthcare services.
• Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently using electronic health records.
• Engage in patient education and health promotion activities to improve health literacy and outcomes.
• Participate in risk and quality management programs to ensure compliance and high-quality care.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Manage patient panels effectively, ensuring timely follow-ups and addressing health concerns proactively.
• Collaborate with specialists and hospitalists for comprehensive patient care and continuity.

Primary Care Physician Job Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required.
• Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatrics required.
• Active state medical license or eligibility to obtain one within the required timeframe.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in primary care; 5 years preferred.
• Proficiency in electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of employment.
• Strong commitment to patient-centered care and improving health outcomes.
• Ability to travel locally for patient care and nationally for training as needed.
