Finance Controller Overview

• The Finance Controller role offers an opportunity to lead critical fund accounting operations within a hybrid work environment.
• Oversee quarterly and annual closes for flagship funds, co-investment vehicles, and employee investment entities.
• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal policies.
• Manage capital calls, distributions, investment funding, and cash forecasting activities.
• Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel on technical accounting matters.
• Drive finance transformation initiatives and system enhancements leveraging technology and automation tools.
• Support fund launches, restructurings, and strategic initiatives within a dynamic financial services environment.
• Serve as a trusted resource for complex transactions and ad hoc projects, ensuring operational excellence.
• Join a direct fund role offering impactful contributions to fund operations and investor relations.

Finance Controller Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Lead quarterly and annual financial close processes for assigned fund entities.
• Prepare and review management fee calculations, capital allocations, and carried interest computations.
• Analyze investor transactions, commitment changes, and partnership accounting matters.
• Coordinate portfolio company transactions, wire activities, and cash forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with partnership agreements, side letters, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel to address technical matters.
• Drive process improvements and implement automation tools to enhance efficiency.
• Support fund closings, investor onboarding, and strategic initiatives within the organization.
• Coordinate partnership tax reporting and deliverables, including Schedule K-1 support.

Finance Controller Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably within private equity or financial services.
• Strong understanding of fund accounting, NAV processes, and waterfall calculations.
• Proficiency in Investran, Sage Intacct, or similar fund accounting systems.
• Demonstrated use of AI or automation tools to improve workflows.
• CPA certification or progress toward certification preferred.
• Experience with Big Four asset management practices and private equity funds.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements effectively.
