Job Description

Occupancy Specialist – Real Estate Overview

  • The Occupancy Specialist – Real Estate will assist with applicant qualification processes within the Affordable Department, ensuring compliance with housing regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate directly with the Director of Affordable Housing to manage occupancy-related tasks and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Screen applications, conduct interviews, and verify income and asset documentation for eligibility determination.
  • Maintain, update, and manage property waiting lists to ensure accurate records and efficient processes.
  • Follow HUD, HPD, and Section 8 guidelines to ensure compliance with housing regulations.
  • Assist various departments with audits and special projects, contributing to organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication to applicants and team members alike.
  • Adapt to new technologies and processes in a fast-paced environment to enhance efficiency.

Occupancy Specialist – Real Estate Key Responsibilities & Duties

Occupancy Specialist – Real Estate Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in property management, affordable housing programs, or administrative clerical work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, for efficient task management.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and a tactful approach to customer service.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of HUD, HPD, and Section 8 guidelines is highly desirable.
