Billing Specialist Overview
- The Billing Specialist will support billing activities for assigned practice groups and partners.
- Ensure accurate client/matter setup, incorporating necessary codes, budgets, and compliance with billing requirements.
- Process client invoices, monitor unbilled inventory, and address billing inquiries promptly.
- Collaborate with attorneys and administrative departments to provide exceptional customer service.
- Maintain compliance with accounting, billing, and collection policies to ensure financial integrity.
- Prepare and analyze reports to support billing and collection functions effectively.
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolving client invoice-related issues efficiently.
- Adapt to a hybrid work environment, balancing remote and on-site responsibilities.
Billing Specialist Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Set up clients and matters in compliance with partner and client requirements.
- Review and ensure adherence to client billing guidelines and fee agreements.
- Prepare, revise, and finalize proformas and invoices for submission.
- Transmit e-bills and resolve any issues with submissions promptly.
- Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and accounts receivable to ensure timely resolution.
- Provide backup documentation for billed expenses and address client inquiries.
- Collaborate with the eBilling team to address and resolve billing challenges.
- Prepare reports and analyses to support billing and collection functions.
- Provide coverage during team member absences and perform additional billing tasks as needed.
Billing Specialist Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field is recommended.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a law firm billing department or similar industry.
- Proficiency in Elite Enterprise, 3E, and related billing software preferred.
- Experience with eBilling platforms such as BillBlast and eBilling Hub is advantageous.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexibility to work overtime as required to meet deadlines.
