Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Administer occupational therapy treatments under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, adhering to individualized treatment plans.
• Assist patients in improving functional mobility, strength, coordination, and independence through targeted therapeutic activities.
• Document patient progress and treatment outcomes accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with facility standards.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including OTs, PTs, SLPs, and nursing staff, to optimize patient care.
• Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and strategies for continued improvement and independence.
• Provide care tailored to the needs of geriatric patients, emphasizing empathy and patient-centered approaches.

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Requirements

• Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and eligibility to practice in New Jersey.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting; 3 years preferred.
• Experience with geriatric patients and familiarity with orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation techniques.
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills to ensure effective patient care and record-keeping.
• Ability to commit to a full-time schedule, approximately 40 hours per week, through December.
• Master of Science (MS) degree in a relevant field is required.
