Pharmacy Technician Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Serve as the initial contact for healthcare providers, addressing inquiries regarding prior authorization status.
- Utilize tools to determine eligibility, screen documents, and process authorization requests.
- Prepare and distribute authorization requests for review by pharmacists or physicians.
- Collect medical information via phone, fax, and portal, applying appropriate criteria.
- Document communications and decisions accurately while adhering to compliance standards.
- Trigger escalations promptly for cases requiring pharmacist review.

Pharmacy Technician Job Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from PTCB or NHA.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pharmacy-related field, with prior authorization exposure.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, customer service, and phone etiquette.
- Comfortable with phone-heavy roles; call center experience is highly preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to work remotely within approved states, adhering to residency requirements.
