Senior Bankruptcy Paralegal Overview
- The Senior Bankruptcy Paralegal will support complex Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructuring matters, ensuring meticulous case management and document preparation.
- Collaborate with clients and local counsel to manage filings, processes, and case administration effectively across multiple jurisdictions.
- Provide expertise in e-filing using CM/ECF, PACER, and PacerPro for bankruptcy and district courts.
- Assist in preparing and proofreading legal documents, including motions, briefs, and exhibits, ensuring compliance with court standards.
- Supervise and mentor junior paralegals, fostering professional growth and maintaining high-quality work standards.
- Manage case calendars and deadlines, ensuring timely filings and adherence to court schedules.
- Conduct legal research using industry-standard tools like Westlaw and Courtlink to support case strategies.
- Prepare trial and hearing materials, including exhibit lists, binders, and witness lists, demonstrating organizational excellence.
- Contribute to billing and invoicing processes, including fee application preparation for restructuring matters.
Senior Bankruptcy Paralegal Key Responsibilities & Duties
- File legal documents such as motions and notices across jurisdictions including Delaware, SDNY, SDTX, and New Jersey.
- Communicate with clients and local counsel to coordinate case administration and filing processes.
- Support debtor-side and creditor-side matters in complex Chapter 11 cases and restructuring scenarios.
- Proofread and cite-check legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with court requirements.
- Train and mentor junior paralegals, promoting professional development and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Manage dockets and case calendars, tracking deadlines for filings, hearings, and claims bar dates.
- Provide administrative support for adversary proceedings, including disputes and claims objections.
- Prepare materials for trials and hearings, ensuring comprehensive documentation and organization.
- Conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw and Courtlink to support case strategies.
Senior Bankruptcy Paralegal Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree required, with a strong academic background.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience with Bankruptcy Court procedures and practices.
- Proficiency in CM/ECF, PACER, and PacerPro for e-filing in bankruptcy and district courts.
- Familiarity with Chapter 11 reorganization processes and related documentation.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a client-focused approach.
- Flexibility to work overtime as required to meet deadlines and case demands.
