Manager of Conflicts and New Business Overview
- The Manager of Conflicts and New Business oversees conflict resolution and risk management processes within a professional legal environment.
- Collaborates with attorneys and leadership to ensure compliance with legal ethics and conflict resolution standards.
- Manages lateral attorney onboarding processes, ensuring seamless integration and adherence to conflict policies.
- Drafts screening memoranda and evaluates new business intake forms for accuracy and completeness.
- Plays a key role in upgrading conflicts and new business intake systems and procedures.
- Reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer, providing strategic insights and recommendations.
- Works in a hybrid environment with a minimum of three days per week in-office.
Manager of Conflicts and New Business Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee the conflicts process, new business intake, and risk management functions within the firm.
- Conduct due diligence and research to identify and resolve potential conflicts of interest.
- Analyze complex data and communicate findings clearly to relevant stakeholders.
- Evaluate the need for waivers and advise attorneys on conflict clearance procedures.
- Review client engagement letters and new matter requests for accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain and update databases of current and past clients and matters.
- Implement new systems and procedures to streamline conflicts and intake processes.
- Collaborate with firm leadership and departments to enhance operational efficiency.
Manager of Conflicts and New Business Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctorate preferred for advanced legal understanding.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in conflict analysis within legal or related fields.
- Proficiency with Intapp Open and/or Intapp Conflicts systems preferred.
- Experience with research tools such as S&P Capital IQ and Hoovers Business Report.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex data and resolving conflicts.
- Detail-oriented approach to managing client/matter databases and documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from team leaders.
- Hybrid work arrangement requiring three days per week in the office.
