Medical Assistant Overview

  • The Medical Assistant provides essential clinical support and direct patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Collaborates closely with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to ensure high-quality care delivery.
  • Performs tasks such as obtaining vital signs, medication administration, phlebotomy, and diagnostic screenings.
  • Maintains examination rooms, sterilizes equipment, and documents patient information in electronic medical records.
  • Operates within defined policies and procedures with latitude for prioritization and discretion.
  • Works under minimal supervision, focusing on quality standards and patient satisfaction.
  • Offers opportunities for professional growth and development in a supportive healthcare setting.
  • Contributes to a patient-centered approach, enhancing the overall healthcare experience.

Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct clinical duties including discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, and administering medications or vaccines.
  • Perform phlebotomy, collect specimens, and execute diagnostic screening tests as required.
  • Ensure examination rooms are clean, organized, and equipped for patient care.
  • Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records systems.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Adhere to standard policies and procedures, exercising independent discretion when necessary.
  • Provide teaching, coaching, and mentoring to support team development.
  • Participate in local travel as needed, with mileage reimbursement provided.

Medical Assistant Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of Medical Assistant training program preferred.
  • Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of relevant experience with provider approval.
  • CPR certification and compliance with Tuberculosis screening requirements.
  • Experience in medication/vaccine administration and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of Value-Based Care, HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and patient experience standards.
  • Strong ability to mentor and lead teams, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility to work Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional travel.
