Job Description

Medical Assistant Overview

  • The Medical Assistant serves as the first point of contact for patient care, ensuring a seamless and professional experience.
  • Responsible for both administrative tasks and direct patient care, contributing to operational efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • Perform clinical duties such as obtaining vital signs, administering medications/vaccines, and conducting diagnostic screenings.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and advanced practice providers to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Maintain examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and document patient information in electronic medical records systems.
  • Work within defined parameters while exercising discretion in prioritization and timing of tasks.
  • Contribute to a patient-focused environment that emphasizes quality care and adherence to healthcare standards.

Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform clinical tasks including phlebotomy, specimen collection, and diagnostic screenings.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as per certification allowances and physician directives.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care and support.
  • Document patient information accurately into electronic medical records systems.
  • Sterilize and maintain medical equipment and examination rooms to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in administrative tasks such as scheduling, patient communication, and record management.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures while delivering patient-focused care.
  • Participate in the tuberculosis screening program as part of patient-facing responsibilities.

Medical Assistant Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program or certification is preferred.
  • CPR certification is mandatory for this role.
  • Experience in phlebotomy and medication/vaccine administration is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of value-based care, including HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS patient experience, is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is desirable, subject to passing a proficiency exam.
  • Ability to work on-site and adhere to an 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday schedule.
