Business Development Manager Overview
- The Business Development Manager leads national sales efforts for integrated absence, leave, and disability solutions, driving growth and building client relationships.
- Develop strategic sales plans aligned with organizational goals to support profitable growth across the country.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for prospects, brokers, and internal partners, showcasing expertise in leave and disability management.
- Participate in the sales compensation incentive plan, offering significant earning potential.
- Work in a hybrid model, combining office presence and remote work, with travel as required.
- Engage with HR leaders, Benefits Directors, and Risk Managers to develop tailored solutions for client needs.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences and networking events to expand market presence.
- Stay informed on market trends and regulatory developments to maintain competitive positioning.
Business Development Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, consultants, and prospective clients to drive sales growth.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline to support short- and long-term sales objectives.
- Lead the sales process, including presentations, negotiations, and pricing discussions.
- Coordinate internal resources to support timely and accurate responses to RFPs, proposals, and presentations.
- Develop and execute annual sales and service plans, including prospecting and forecasting.
- Apply knowledge of FMLA, ADA accommodations, and state leave laws to support consultative sales discussions.
- Partner with operations and clinical teams to develop tailored solutions for complex client needs.
- Meet or exceed annual national sales goals and objectives.
Business Development Manager Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in leave, absence, and/or disability industry; 8 years preferred.
- Established network of industry contacts, including brokers and HR leaders.
- Strong knowledge of leave and absence management programs, including FMLA and ADA accommodations.
- Experience selling or managing integrated disability and absence management solutions preferred.
- Demonstrated success in achieving measurable sales results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Salesforce and strong analytical skills for data tracking and analysis.
